Privacy and analytics
Updated 19 September 2026.
Your choice
Orbiversity offers optional Google Analytics to understand which public pages people visit and how they explore. Analytics is off until you choose Allow analytics. No Google Analytics script is requested before that choice. You can change your preference with Privacy choices at the bottom of these pages. A browser’s Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track preference keeps analytics off.
What is measured
When you opt in, Google Analytics receives page visits, public ORB identifiers, published reading identifiers, source website domains, and clicks that continue to Orbforma. It may also process technical information such as browser, device, approximate location derived from your connection, and visit timing. Advertising features and Google signals are disabled.
Our analytics code does not send comment text, display names, private prompts, saved ORB contents or uploaded files. Page addresses exclude free-text query parameters and fragments; only recognized public ORB identifiers are retained. Referrer addresses are reduced to their website origin. Automatic form, site-search and outbound-link measurement is disabled; the few custom events above are explicitly controlled.
Storage and turning analytics off
Your analytics choice is stored in this browser for up to six months. If you allow analytics, Google Analytics cookies can last up to 90 days. Choosing No thanks or Keep analytics off stops our measurement and clears this site’s Google Analytics cookies. It does not erase data already received by Google. Clearing browser storage resets your choice.
Google operates the analytics service. Read Google’s privacy policy and how Google uses data from partner sites.
Public ORBs and comments
Published ORBs, contributor information deliberately included with them, and submitted comments are public. Comments use a separate browser identity for removal and server-side protections against repeated posting. The comment service stores keyed fingerprints for those protections, rather than publishing your identity or raw network address. Clearing browser storage can prevent you from removing your own comments; the Museum owner can still remove them.
Search and external sources
Google Search Console reports how public Orbiversity pages appear in search. It does not require an analytics cookie. Opening an external source, video or recording contacts that provider and is subject to its own practices. Website hosting and security services may process requests needed to deliver and protect the pages.
