THE SHARED FORMAT

Different subjects. A familiar way to explore.

Submissions must be created using the ORB Skill as described in the field guide, or its published ORB prompt, and preserve the ORB navigation and reading format. Your topic, perspective and visual style can be your own.

A clear anchor and connected readings. Give each point a stable identity and a meaningful place in the map.
The six-direction compass. UP broadens; DOWN deepens; LEFT/RIGHT move between adjacent facets; FORWARD/BACKWARD follow a labeled thread of implications and precursors. Keep visit history separate.
Evidence and honest limits. Link sources to the readings, distinguish interpretation from fact and label unresolved knowledge-floor questions.
An ORB file or usable web artifact. Open your .orb.txt in ORB Share to check the map, compass and readings. Custom HTML/ZIP editions remain welcome; offer audio/video only when actual playback is included.

The review checks the finished ORB against this format. A checkbox alone is not format verification. Reading-only ORBs are welcome.

Use the ORB Skill in your own AI workspace. If it is not installed, start with the published ORB prompt linked above. Explore a distinct question, verify the content and add your perspective. You choose your tools and use your own generation allowance; submitting requires no access to your AI account.

New here? Create and submit a .txt ORB in four steps

Explore a topic. Copy the ORB prompt into your AI chat, then type /orb your topic. Follow questions and check sources.
Create the file. In ORB Share, copy the authoring brief into that same chat. Ask for your exploration as an ORB File 1 named your-topic.orb.txt. No HTML or plugin installation is needed.
Preview and save. Open the AI’s file in ORB Share. If it gives you text instead, copy the JSON inside its code block, choose Paste text → Check & open, then Save ORB file. If there are errors, copy them back to your AI and ask it to fix the file.
Submit for review. Choose Prepare submission, check your title and public creator credit, then continue to GitHub. Sign in or create a GitHub account, attach the saved .orb.txt to the issue description, and submit. Keep the issue link as your receipt. Previewing does not upload the file or publish it.

The simplest route: copy the ORB File authoring brief, ask your AI to package your exploration, and open the result in ORB Share. No website code is required.

Optional: build a custom HTML edition

After exploring your topic, ask for a complete ORB Web artifact. Use this brief with the ORB Skill or public prompt:

Turn our exploration into a complete ORB Web artifact. Create index.html and any needed assets. Preserve the topic, audience, stable point IDs, readings and linked evidence. Include a visible six-direction compass: UP broadens; DOWN deepens explanation or scale; LEFT/RIGHT visit adjacent facets; FORWARD/BACKWARD follow implications and precursors on a labeled thread. Keep history Back separate. Include a browsable map, a route home, readable sources, mobile and keyboard support, and a continuation prompt. At the limits of evidence, author a clearly labeled knowledge-floor question with its known basis and uncertainty. Do not invent settled answers. Package a self-contained reading ORB as an HTML file, or put index.html and all required assets in a ZIP. Keep personal chat history and private notes out of the submitted package. Test the finished page before submitting. Keep required images and audio with the HTML. A narration script is not recorded audio; an Active or Rest Journey film is optional.

Already published your ORB? Submit its live link. Otherwise, send the finished file and we can prepare hosting after approval.

Informational Dimensions reviews submissions with an AI assistant to inspect the files, check the ORB format, sources and media, and prepare a preview. The owner makes the final decision.

After approval, we handle the repository, hosting where needed, creator attribution and the Community ORBs listing. If something needs work, we can request an updated submission. Material updates need a new review.

Submissions are reviewed when the owner requests an intake review; there is no continuous AI monitor or guaranteed review time. Submission does not guarantee acceptance. Credit and source provenance stay with the published edition.
